It's been quite a while since I last posted in here, so I wanted to give my friends an update.
Finding a doctor - I was naive enough to believe I could find a good doctor easily, who would listen to me and accept the path that I'm on based on recommendations from the Arizona clinic. But alas, that was not to be. My new oncologist is just as traditional as any of them, and said that I'll need surgery most likely, and that diet and exercise won't make a difference. He did say his staff can work with my port, which is a blessing! They'll be doing a port flush and some more bloodwork on the 28th of this month. I'm also going to get his sign-off on an iv therapy I need, so that will also be a help. The clinic I found to do the iv refuses to service me without a doctor's permission.
Immunotherapies - My goal is to receive an iv infusion of immunotherapy every other week, at least until June 23rd when I have my PET scan. So far, I've received one since arriving in Texas. I hit a roadblock with needing doctor permission for the certain ivs that I need, and even the hyperbaric oxygen chamber is requiring a doctor's signature. My doctor is very difficult to reach, so I haven't been able to get him to sign the paperwork unless I see him in person. I've decided to calm down and not get stressed about missing some iv time. Hopefully the other medicines I'm taking are continuing to work for me.
Bloodwork - My first blood test in Texas had a very good result, the cancer antigen numbers have gone back to normal range! They only looked at one of the markers, but I'm sure that means the other antigens are back down, as well. This is the best number I've seen since I got the cancer diagnosis in October. The clinic that did the blood draw was very good, and I think I'm getting braver because it seemed easy!
New doctor search - I'm still on the hunt for a more holistic minded doctor. I thought I had a good prospect, but once I finally got a hold of her, she didn't have the capacity for new patients. On May 30th, I'll be visiting a new doctor that is very holistic, and said his staff should be able to use my port for iv treatments. He also works up a nutrition and supplement plan based on special bloodwork they do for each patient. His office is 50 minutes away, but I will probably only have to go there every two weeks.
For now, I'm continuing to take several supplements and my hormone blockers daily, as well as staying on the ketogenic diet, and trying to get some good exercise, sunlight, and things that bring me joy weekly. I'm nervous about the coming scan, but will handle whatever comes of that when it is time. Thank you all so much for your support!
